An independent magazine, in the Pioneer Valley.
Voyage Talks LLC is the independent magazine Søren Halvorsen runs out of 175 State Street in Springfield, Massachusetts — an editor, a desk, and eight browser tabs that stay open all day.
The story
Voyage Talks started in 2017 as an email to roughly forty friends. They kept asking what we'd booked, where, and for how much. After a year of replying individually, we put the answers on a page. The page became this magazine. Voyage Talks LLC is owner-run; one editor, two contributors, no investors.
What we are
An independent travel magazine and a deal radar. We write opinionated dispatches and guides, and we monitor public results pages on a single comparison-search partner. We surface what looks interesting; we link out so the partner can sell to you on their own terms.
What we are not
We are not a travel agency. We are not an OTA. We are not a tour operator, an airline, or a ticket seller. We do not take payment from readers. We do not accept paid placement on the Radar. We do not run sponsored "best of" lists.
How we keep the magazine honest
- Fares and tour prices on Voyage Talks are estimates observed on partner pages at the time of writing; the partner's checkout is the source of truth.
- Every outbound link is tested before publication and re-checked on a rolling 30-day cycle. Broken or rerouted partners are pulled.
- Partners cannot pay for higher placement on the Radar or in dispatches. The order is editorial.
- No sponsored "best of" lists, no advertorial, no celebrity endorsements.
- Corrections are published on the same dispatch, with the change date.
How we make money
Voyage Talks is reader-supported through affiliate referral fees. When you click an outbound link and complete a booking on a partner site, the partner may pay us a small commission at no extra cost to you. That commission does not change the price you see at the partner, and it does not influence the editorial ranking or the order of cards on the Radar. We do not host third-party display-ad networks on our own pages, and we do not sell reader data. The advertising and remarketing technologies we use to promote Voyage Talks are disclosed in our privacy policy.
Mission
To make travel writing useful again: short enough to read on a phone, specific enough to act on, honest about price. Springfield is a good place to do that from — quiet, well-connected, and three hours from a working airport in every direction.
